About
Dr. Deborah Bybee is a community psychologist who specializes in statistical methodology. Her work focuses on the application of multivariate techniques to understand complex, real-world phenomena, especially those that are longitudinal in nature. Substantively, she has applied her methodological interests to a variety of areas, including advocacy for women with abusive partners, intervention with children who have witnessed domestic violence, housing assistance for individuals who are homeless and mentally ill, supported education for individuals with mental illness, and mothering by women coping with a serious mental illness. In her 20-year career, Dr. Bybee has been Co-Principal Investigator or senior research methodologist on nine large-scale NIMH grants, in addition to three grants funded by CDC, two by SAMHSA, one by NCCAN, and three by NIJ. Dr. Bybee has been an active mentor, serving on thesis and dissertation committees of over 60 graduate students and working with post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty across the disciplines of psychology, sociology, public health, and social work.
